In the hammam, bodies escape for a moment the harshness of the world. The steam blurs contours, suspends roles, and allows for another presence to oneself. The men no longer pose, no longer resist: they surrender to care, to slowness, to shared warmth. Near them, the monkey that Dalila Dalléas Bouzar paints for the first time sleeps with an almost sovereign calm. Its presence shifts the scene toward a fraternity of the living. Here, rest is neither weakness nor withdrawal: it becomes a discreet force, a way of standing differently, of preserving the mind when the body has carried the struggle for too long.
