AYN - Curatorial & Editorial Practice
Modern & Contemporary Art
Founded in Paris in 2018 by Yasmine Azzi-Kohlhepp, AYN is an independent curatorial and editorial practice that represents and supports artists while developing exhibitions, publications and institutional collaborations internationally.
Its curatorial approach takes the modernities of the Maghreb as a point of departure from which to reconsider the narratives of modern and contemporary art. It traces the circulation of artists, works and ideas between North Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the wider international art world. Diasporas form a dynamic geography shaped by movement across countries, languages and cultures. AYN thus situates the practices it supports within an open, transnational and interconnected understanding of art history.
“Art finds its fullest meaning when it opens up a space of encounter in which our differences, rather than dividing us, become sources of mutual enrichment. It transforms how we relate to ourselves, to the world and to our shared humanity. This conviction guides AYN, which creates the critical, editorial and institutional conditions through which artworks can reveal their full significance.”
— Yasmine Azzi-Kohlhepp
Each project begins with the work itself: its form, its history, its context and the particular demands it makes. The project takes shape from there; whether as an exhibition, monograph, publication, museum or institutional collaboration, public programme or art-fair presentation. AYN works from initial research through production and public presentation, extending into the project’s editorial development.
This commitment extends beyond the duration of an exhibition, sustaining the continued study, visibility and circulation of works within museums, foundations and collections, and among curators and international audiences.
A curator, publisher and artistic director, Yasmine Azzi-Kohlhepp defines AYN’s direction and leads its collaborations. Her background in art, curating, journalism and publishing has shaped an approach grounded in research, a discerning eye and the shaping of narratives. As co-founder and publisher of Éditions du Crieur Public, she also develops publications spanning the humanities, contemporary thought and art.
