AYN Gallery at Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2025

AYN Gallery’s participation in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Art Fair marks a significant milestone for the visibility of Algerian artistic production on the Gulf’s art scene. Based between Paris and Oran, the gallery reaffirms its ambition to circulate artists from the Maghreb and the Middle East across major international platforms.

A notable first appearance for AYN Gallery

For its debut at Abu Dhabi Art, AYN Gallery conceived a booth structured around memory, territory, and transforming narratives. Three artists were presented:

Salim Le Kouaghet, an important figure of the Algerian diaspora in France, whose installations and graphic works explore notions of exile and traces.

AYN Gallery: building narratives and circulation

Invited to participate in the talk “Maghreb Now: Galleries & Currents,” moderated by Meryem Sebti (Diptyk Magazine), Yasmine Kohlhepp-Azzi highlighted the role of independent galleries in shaping the North African art scene. She addressed several key themes:

  • the emergence of new trans-Mediterranean narratives,

  • the strategic role of galleries in the circulation of artworks,

  • the creation of bridges between the Maghreb, Europe, and the Gulf,

  • and the importance of publishing as a tool for archival work and artistic legitimization.

Les Éditions du Crieur Public, closely linked to AYN Gallery, contribute to this dynamic by disseminating internationally publications that ensure lasting visibility for Algerian artists. In parallel, discussions have been initiated with heritage officials in Algeria to facilitate access to photographic archives from museums — a crucial step in documenting the country’s modern artistic history.

An Algerian art scene in transformation

The 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Art Fair confirms the emergence of an Algerian art scene undergoing profound transformation: the mobility of the diaspora, the multiplication of curatorial initiatives, and the creation of new bridges between continents.

Present at numerous international art fairs — from South Africa to Sweden, as well as the United States and France — AYN Gallery positions itself as one of the key actors within this evolving landscape.

By contributing to documenting, supporting, and projecting Algerian artistic production into global contemporary art networks, the gallery actively participates in the writing of renewed cultural narratives that are interconnected and resolutely transnational.
